High School Academic Options
Heritage Christian High School offers a diversified college preparatory curriculum. These classes are carefully designed to provide the necessary academic foundation as a student moves from 9th to 12th grade. View our Course Descriptions Book for detailed information about our course offerings.
Honors, AP, and Dual Credit
All classes at HCS are considered to be college preparatory. However, there are three types of courses that are more advanced: Honors, AP, and Dual Credit. Each of these courses are weighted in GPA calculations. For more information about the differences in these types of courses, see the pages linked above.
High school students have the opportunity to explore a specific area of academic interest in one of our 6 specialized Academy programs. These programs provide focused course planning toward specific college and career choices through curricular enhancements and experiential learning. Completion of academy requirements results in special recognition at graduation and on the student’s transcript.
The role of Guidance Services is to support students and families as they navigate high school course curriculum choices and the college/career search process. Our students are assigned a counselor for individualized guidance and assistance throughout high school.
Educational Support Services
Educational Support Services acknowledges learning differences and provides a variety of programs, intervention strategies, and teaching methods to meet the learning needs and challenges of exceptional children.
We set aside one week in March to explore possibilities, cultivate unique talents, and sharpen skills. Freshmen and sophomores complete special classes. Juniors participate in an internship or job-shadowing experience. Seniors take an exciting week-long trip to New York.
At Heritage, the arts are a core part of the curriculum. High school students have several fine arts class options to choose from in music, theater, and visual arts.
HCS participates as a member of the IHSAA in a variety of sports for high school student-athletes.

At Heritage, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) is an integral part of the academic excellence for which the school is well known. High school students have opportunities to participate in STEM classes and other initiatives.
